System of Care
For Youth

Involving Youth

Youth voice is a core value of the System of Care philosophy built on the idea that youth are the experts on their own health and wellness. Youth have a voice and choice in the services and supports they receive and can provide expertise that helps to shape the system of care that serves them. Our young people need to be provided leadership opportunities and be empowered to make a difference in their community. They should be engaged as partners in program design and implementation.

Get Involved - Advocate for Yourself!

Youth who have successfully navigated systems and overcome challenges in their own lives can be used to help the next generation of young people by providing hope, guidance, and assist in building resiliency. Groups such as My Life and Youth M.O.V.E give youth a positive place to belong, learn, and grow. In Florida a youth designation of the Certified Recovery Peer Specialist credential is now available which allows young adults to be hired to deliver peer support services to young people currently facing challenges. Go to Florida Certification Board to find out more.

If you are a youth or young adult who wants to get involved in improving the system of care please contact us at HQW.SAMH.SOCFlorida@myflfamilies.com or 850-487-2920.
